COUNTERACTING EGO AND GREED

Counteracting ego and greed.

Ego and greed are killing the world.

To counteract this, we need humble, open-minded leaders who understand the value of service.  We need leaders not in love with money, but with humanity.

If you cannot be of service to others, you have no business being a leader.

As a species we face some huge challenges.  Supporting our communities and organisations during a global pandemic, and tackling the existential threat of climate change are just two of them.

In order to overcome these problems, we need leaders who can inspire others.  We need leaders to challenge the status quo and bring the talents of diverse people together with a shared purpose.  Real leaders realise how inter-connected the world is and see the act of service way beyond their own personal status or self-interest.  Yet too many leaders in business still view leadership as position, rather than influence.

Greed and ego have no place in the leader’s approach.  Too many people with privilege to lead others remain self-serving and egotistical.  If we are to build a better future, we need a new leadership paradigm.  This paradigm sees the leaders’ role firmly around service, and humbleness.  Leaders who really value and care about people make all the difference.  They make it about their teams and not about themselves.  They do not crave the limelight but spend their time promoting how amazing their teams are.  They value and recognise the good in others.

Good leaders create environments for people to want to bring their best talents to solving the pressing problems of today and tomorrow.  These are the leaders we choose to follow.
