Why we love Emotional Intelligence

At Apex HR we love Emotional intelligence or EQ

We see it as fundamental for effective leadership. More than that, we see it as a skill for life.

As a skill, it can be taught. Teaching others to become more emotionally self-aware, empathetic, kinder, compassionate and considerate of the impact they have on others is the way forward. We feel so passionate about this we believe we should teach EQ in schools.

“We can equip the next generations with the human centred skills that business needs, and to build more cohesive communities.”

In our experience EQ is still widely misunderstood, this has not been helped by a macho management culture which still sees this as a ‘soft’ or weak approach. In reality, it could not be further from the truth. These are hard skills to internalise. EQ requires real strength of character as we tap into our own vulnerabilities.

“At Apex HR we say it’s time to ditch the soft label. EQ delivers hard benefits.”

There is a realisation that business systems which focus on financial results to the detriment of long term wellbeing of the people who create the value is wrong. We all know this approach is not sustainable.

We need a more conscious approach. There is a desire for a better, and more human approach to doing business. At Apex HR, we love working with leaders to develop the strong EQ skills leaders they need today and tomorrow to help bring this vision to life.
