Why HR needs coaching and mentoring too

Let’s pause and think about what most modern organisations are asking HR to deliver?

HR are expected to be the people experts across a huge spectrum of challenging activity.

HR work can be really demanding and emotionally draining. HR teams need to deliver a relentless amount of change and improvement on behalf of our organisations, often under the guise of ‘more for less’, when the support for HR itself feels pretty much non-existent.

Other professions have realised the huge benefit from mentoring and coaching programs with space and time to reflect and evaluate impact, but somehow HR still seems to be treated differently.

There is a general apathy that HR doesn’t need support, because HR people can fix their own problems.

The modern world is changing rapidly, HR needs to modernise too. In a world which is crying out for more meaningful human connections and relationships, HR can truly lead the way here.

HR can create the conditions and environments for people to flourish and do their best work. This has to include HR, who after all, are people too. This is key to HR achieving it’s full impact and contribution in building the humanised workplaces of the future.

Apex provide practical, helpful and affordable coaching and mentoring packages for people working in an HR role. Having been at the sharp end of HR practice over many years, we understand the breadth of challenges being faced and the impact this can have on our wellbeing.
