WHEN RECRUITING, HOW OFTEN DO WE SEE THE CV/RESUME, BUT NOT THE PERSON ?

When recruiting, how often do we see the CV/resume, but not the person?

So many recruitment processes leave candidates feeling frustrated.

We’re so caught up in process when recruiting people that we neglect how it feels for the candidate. Technology can play an important role where it enhances, rather than diminished the human experience. In the interest of efficiency and automation, how much of the human touch has been lost?

When people are out of work and applying for jobs the pressure is on. Never truer than in the middle of a global pandemic. The future is uncertain and outcomes can be life changing for people.

We need to humanise our recruitment practices and place the person at centre of our approach.

Let’s be warm, welcoming and above all, human in our interactions.

This means looking beyond the resume/CV, being open minded about transferable skills, thanking people for their application and interest, communicating openly with them, and offering helpful, constructive and timely feedback.

Simple steps which make a difference to people’s lives whether they are successful or not. We can boost confidence and self esteem irrespective of the outcome. It also enhances our organisation’s brands as well.
